Cumberland, RI - Hofstra once again prevailed in doubles play but could not carry their momentum into singles as the Pride lost a 4-2 decision to Bryant at Fore Court Indoor Tennis Sunday afternoon. Hofstra slipped to 3-6 with the loss.
The Bulldogs won the first completed doubles flight, No. 3, before the Pride rallied to win at No. 1 and No. 2 to earn the point.
Mandisa Walle and
Ronia Dolabany defeated Megan Tan and Aleksi Gottlieb, 6-3, at the second flight before
Jasmine King and
April Sanchez won a 7-6 match at No. 1 over Sarah Hickey and Ada Boru.Â
Bryant began doubles with a win at No. 4 by Tan after Sanchez was forced to retire in the first set due to injury. Hickey followed with a win over King at No. 1 (6-3, 6-3) to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 match lead.
Katherine Kachkarov evened the match for Hofstra with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 over Boru. However, Bryant's Arianna Oropeza won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 over Walle, and Leanne Kendall clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over
Odessa Stork at No. 5.
Hofstra is back in action Friday at Delaware with a 12 p.m. match time. Â
