Bethpage, NY - Hofstra claimed two singles victories and also won a doubles match, but Lafayette came away with a 5-2 victory Sunday at Sportime in Bethpage.
Hofstra fell to 2-4 on the season. Lafayette improved to 6-0 in the best start in program history.
The doubles team of
Jasmine King and
April Sanchez picked up a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, but the Leopards had clinched the point already with a pair of 6-0 wins at the first and third flights.
King defeated Cecelia Lesnick in three sets at No. 1 (6-2, 5-7, 7-6) and
Katherine Kachkarov won in three at No. 2 over Samantha Snyder (6-4, 2-6, 6-2) to account for the Hofstra points in the match. Lafayette won three of the other four flights in two sets.
Hofstra will host Sacred Heart at Sportime Tuesday at 1 p.m.
