Alex Masai and sophomore
Paul Markovina competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday and both runners recorded personal-best marks in their respective event.
Masai competed in the 3000m run for the second time this season and recorded a time of 7:53.04, which was over a second faster than his previous personal record that he set at the Dr. Sander Invitational last month. Masai placed 16th overall in a field of 203 runners and finished fifth among collegiate runners.
Markovina raced in the 5000m run and recorded a personal record time of 15:03.31, shaving 17 seconds off his indoor 5K time from exactly one year ago at the Hemery Valentine Invitational. Markovina placed ninth in his heat and 89th overall.
The Hofstra men's team returns to action on Saturday, February 22 at the Army West Point Tune-Up. The meet will take place at the Gillis Field House on the campus of the United States Military Academy.
