Hempstead, NY - The 2020-21 Hofstra men's basketball team will open a season like no other next Wednesday, November 25, when it travels to Monmouth for a 7 p.m. contest.

As we gear up for the start of the season - here are 20 things to know in 2020 about the 2020-21 Hofstra men's basketball team!

1 - Hofstra was picked first in the preseason Colonial Athletic Association predicted order of finish. Hofstra, which totaled 290 points, was favored to repeat as conference champions. It marks the third time since 2015-16 (15-16, 19-20, and 20-21) that the Pride has been picked first in the preseason CAA poll.

2 - Hofstra has won back-to-back regular season Colonial Athletic Association titles. The Pride is only the sixth in CAA history to win consecutive outright regular season titles. They will look to join elite company in 2020-21 as Virginia Commonwealth is the only team in league history to win three straight as the Rams did it from 2006-07 to 2008-09.

3 - The Pride placed three players on the preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association teams. Junior Isaac Kante was named to the first team, while seniors Tareq Coburn and Jalen Ray earned honorable mention accolades.

5 - Newcomers on the Hofstra men's basketball roster this season. They include three freshmen (Zion Bethea, David Green, and Vukasin Masic), a junior (Shawndarius Cowart), and a graduate student (Cole Eiber).

8 - This season marks the eighth year on staff at Hofstra for Acting Head Coach Mike Farrelly. He spent his first six years on staff as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach in 2019. During the summer of 2020, Farrelly was named one of 50 Impactful Mid Major Assistants by Silver Waves Media and also ranked as one of the top assistant coaches in the CAA by Jeff Goodman of Stadium.

9 - A total of nine different states or countries are represented on the 2020-21 Hofstra men's basketball roster with New York State leading the way with four players hailing from the Empire State. The Pride has players from six different states and three different countries.

16 - The Pride led the nation with 16 road/neutral victories a season ago. Hofstra picked up a pair of wins in Florida at the Boca Raton Beach Classic before winning three more neutral site games in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.

23 - With its 26-win campaign in 2019-20, Hofstra has now had 23 seasons with at least 20 wins in its history. A total of 14 of those seasons have come at the NCAA Division I level (since 1966-67).

34 - Over the last three seasons, Hofstra has totaled 34 wins in 43 games at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The Pride, which went 10-4 at home last season, has compiled a .790 winning percentage at home over the last three years.

.406 - Career Hofstra three-point field goal percentage for senior Tareq Coburn, who enters this year having drained 117 three-pointers since joining the Pride.

.520 - Percentage of scoring returning this season for Hofstra. The Pride returns 1,352 points from last season with senior Jalen Ray leading the way with 406 points, while junior Isaac Kante (386) and senior Tareq Coburn (361) rank second and third, respectively.

53 - Combined wins by Hofstra over the last two seasons. That total ranks 14th nationally over that time. The Pride won 27 games in 2018-19 before following that up with a 26-win campaign a season ago. The 53 wins is the most in back-to-back years in program history, besting the previous mark of 50 by 1999-2000 (24) and 2000-01 (26) seasons.

66 - Three-pointers made last season by senior Tareq Coburn. It is tops among returnees and ranked second on the team a season ago. He made a season-high six against Towson on February 27.

71 - Hofstra is 71-7 over the last six seasons when holding its opponent under 70 points. The Pride, which went 17-1 in 2019-20 when their opponent failed to reach 70 points, held Northeastern to 61 points in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Game.

157 - Three-pointers for senior Jalen Ray. He ranks 11th all-time in school history in that category and one behind 10th place. He is also only 43 three-pointers shy of becoming the sixth player in program history to tally at least 200 three-pointers.

.658 - The field goal percentage for junior Isaac Kante last season. That total, which led the Colonial Athletic Association, ranks fourth in program history on the single season chart.

.793 - The combined free throw percentage for Hofstra over the last two seasons. The Pride leads the entire nation in free throw percentage over that time as Hofstra has made 1,139 of the 1,436 free throws they have attempted. North Dakota State and Cal Baptist rank second with a .787 free throw percentage over the last two seasons.

889 - Career points for senior Jalen Ray, who averaged 11.9 points per game and was a Colonial Athletic Association Championship All-Tournament Team selection a year ago. Ray needs 111 points to become the 39th member of the 1,000-Point Club at Hofstra.

1,362 days (as of November 25) - since Kvonn Cramer's last official basketball game. The last high school game Cramer appeared in was on March 5, 2017, when he scored 18 points in the Delaware State quarterfinals for Mt. Pleasant High School.

2020 - Hofstra won its first Colonial Athletic Association Championship this past March. It marked the program's first postseason conference title since the 2001 squad won the America East Championship.
