Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra women's basketball program received excellent news Tuesday that junior guard Jahsyni Knight was granted immediate eligibility for the 2020-21 season.

Knight, native of Perth Amboy, N.J., transferred to Hofstra after spending her first two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. She has played in 57 games for the Panthers while making seven starts. In all, Knight has averaged 13.5 minutes per game on the floor while accounting for 105 points, 91 rebounds, 71 assists and 37 steals.

"I am excited that Jahsyni will have the opportunity to compete this season," said Hofstra head women's basketball coach Danielle Santos Atkinson. "Jahsyni has been working extremely hard throughout our first few months of practice and she has the skillset to be a difference-maker for us this year."

Knight attended Rutgers Preparatory High School and led the Argonauts to two consecutive NJSIAA State Championships, two Non-Public B Sectional titles, and three consecutive Somerset County Championships. In 2018, ESPN ranked her as the No. 96 recruit in the nation while also receiving a four-star rating. She was named a Smith & Smith Preseason All-America honorable mention, was a two-time Courier News All-Area First Team member, and was a Non-Public All-State honoree.
