Hempstead, NY - Cindy Lewis '79, the senior associate director of athletics/senior woman administrator at Hofstra University, will be inducted into the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 25 at the organization's annual dinner at the Long island Marriott in Uniondale, New York.

Lewis is part of a 12-member class that includes two other people with Hofstra ties in men's lacrosse alumni Bob Hiller '76 and Dennis Bonn '89.

Lewis is in her 40th year on the Hofstra staff and also serves as the department's fiscal manager and Title IX coordinator in addition to handling sport administration duties for several of the Pride's 21 athletic teams.

A 1979 graduate of Hofstra with a degree in physical education, Lewis played field hockey and women's lacrosse for four seasons, and after earning her master's in physical education from the University of New Hampshire in 1980, she returned to her alma mater and served as field hockey and women's lacrosse coach for five and three seasons, respectively.

Lewis has also served on the NCAA Women's Lacrosse and Volleyball Committees, and was the chairperson of the volleyball committee in 1995. In addition, she serves as a site representative at NCAA Volleyball and Lacrosse Championships and has been tournament director at several NCAA Championship events held at Hofstra. She is also active on the conference level, serving on several Colonial Athletic Association committees.

In 2019 Lewis became an executive board member for the Collegiate Women's Lacrosse Officials Association. She is a former president of the Long Island Women's Lacrosse Association and has served as a women's lacrosse official on both the collegiate and high school level. In addition, Lewis has been a volleyball and field hockey official on the high school level.

Hiller, a 2009 inductee into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame, played at the University from 1973 to 1976 and was Hofstra's career goals leader for 25 years. A four-year letterman, Hiller was the team's leading goal scorer in each of his four seasons and his total of 129 goals was a Hofstra record that stood until Tom Kessler surpassed it in 2001. He was a member of three teams that qualified for the NCAA Championship and each of his teams were ranked in the top 10, including the 1973 team that was ranked fifth in the nation. As a senior in 1976 Hiller was named to the All-America Third Team. Following graduation, he spent one year as an assistant lacrosse coach at North Carolina State University before beginning a career in consumer sales management.

Bonn was a two-year (1988, 1989) member of the Hofstra men's lacrosse team after earning All-America honors and winning a national championship at Nassau Community College. He played in 28 games during his two seasons and recorded three goals and an assist. His teams went a combined 23-7 and won back-to-back East Coast Conference championships. The 1989 team finished the season ranked 14th in the nation. Bonn has been a highly successful high school coach and has served as the varsity coach at Cold Spring Harbor High School since 2000. He has won several New York State championships and was the 2017 National High School Coach of the Year.

The 2020 LIMLF Hall of Fame Class also includes Jillian Byers Matusz, John Espey, Scott Gerham, Al Hodish, Mike Larocco, Nora Maguire White, Jon Marcus, Max Seibald, and Pat Walsh. Joe Kovar is the recipient of the Harvey Cohen Award and Jim Kaspar is the Whitey Hendrickson Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
