Stony Brook, NY – Hofstra senior
Alex Masai captured the Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational for a second consecutive year to lead the Pride Men's Cross Country team to a fourth-place team finish at the 8K 2019 Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational at the SBU Development Park Saturday.
Masai, the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Runner of the Year and conference champion, picked up where he left off last year by winning his second Wolfie Invitational title. He clocked a time of 24:23 to win by 14 seconds over Monroe College freshman Geoffrey Bwalley. The win is Masai's third cross country title in four career meets.
Sophomore
Paul Markovina was Hofstra's second finisher, placing 12th in 27:09 while senior
Dante Perez placed third for the Pride in 29:27 to place 35th. Junior
Tosin Ibironke finished 39th in 29:55 and freshman
Ben Haber completed the Hofstra line-up, placing 42nd in 30:21.
Hofstra finished fourth in the six-team field with 100 points. Stony Brook won the team title with 25 points. Columbia was second with 80 points and Seton Hall was third with 84 points. Monroe was fifth with 104 points and St. Francis was sixth with 157 points
The Pride will return to action on Saturday, October 5 at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
