MGOLF: Aronson Enters World Amateur Golf Rankings

9/25/2019 12:27:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University junior men's golf student-athlete Alec Aronson has entered the World Amateur Golf Rankings this week, checking in at No. 5792. He is the first golfer from Hofstra to achieve a world ranking while a member of the Pride.

The Men's World Amateur Golf Ranking™ system ranks the top male amateur golfers on the basis of their average performance in counting events over a rolling cycle of the previous 104 weeks.

Aronson enters the world rankings after posting a school record for the lowest 54-hole score, 209 (-7), at the Hartford Hawk Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club last week. Aronson tied for fourth place in the 106-golfer field.

The Simi Valley, California, native bested the previous mark of 211 held by Sean Cavanaugh (2016) and David Mecca (2014). The fourth-place tie was a personal best for the team captain and was his second career top five showing.

Aronson leads the team in scoring average at 70.17 strokes per round. He, and the rest of the Pride, returns to action Thursday at the Deal Invitational hosted by Monmouth at the Deal (NJ) Country Club.
