UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Hofstra University Women's Soccer team suffered its first setback of the season at sixth-ranked Penn State University, falling by a 6-0 final at Jeffrey Field on Sunday, August 25.
The Pride tallied five shots on the afternoon, including three attempts finding the frame. Hofstra had an excellent opportunity during the 52nd minute on a free kick from 25 yards out, but junior
Sabrina Bryan's attempted drifted just wide of the top-right corner of the net. Despite falling behind 2-0 during the opening 10 minutes the Pride threatened to cut the deficit in half moments later. Junior
Lucy Porter found space at the top of the box and fired an attempted that rose above the crossbar and out of play.
During the 82nd minute, freshman
Brianna Passaro forced a turnover in the box and had an opportunity on the left wing, though her shot attempt missed outside the left post. Junior
Jordan Littleboy, sophomore
Krista Agostinello, and freshman
Anja Suttner also tallied shot attempts for the Pride. In goal, freshman
Skylar Kuzmich made four saves.
The Pride return to action on Friday, August 30 when it wraps up a three-game road trip to begin the season at Brown University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
