Staten Island, NY - Hofstra rallied from a 3-1 deficit and defeated Wagner, 4-3, Wednesday at Wagner Tennis Courts.
Julien Wolfe's win at No. 5 singles gave the Pride the victory.
The Seahawks took the doubles point by winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights. Dale Sandy and Anatoliy Lashkul defeated
Coco Haener and
Shawn Jackson, 6-2, at the top flight, and Lucas Gonzalez and Eric Poland picked up a 6-4 victory over
Giacomo Pezzoli and
Ryan Hardin at the second flight.
Wagner (5-6) went up 2-0 after Gonzalez picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 against
Jan Leithner. Haener put the Pride on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Poland at No. 4. Dylan Walters made it 3-1 with a victory over
Marcus Smith at No. 1 (6-3, 6-1).
Pezzoli began the Hofstra comeback at No. 6, downing Siddharth Anand 6-3, 6-1. Jackson followed with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 victory at No. 2 against Hans Ohrner that tied the score at 3-3. Wolfe won the match in another three-setter, defeating Ilya Kneppelhout (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
Hofstra (11-5) is back in action Friday at 3 p.m. when it hosts La Salle.
