BB: Win Streak Reaches Six As Hofstra Defeats Manhattan

Wappingers Falls, NY - Alex Sica had an RBI double and Jimmy Joyce added a solo home run as Hofstra won for the sixth consecutive game, 4-1, over Manhattan at Dutchess Stadium Tuesday night.

Hofstra (12-24) took a 3-0 lead in the second inning as Joyce drew a leadoff walk, stole second and came in on a double from Sica. A bunt single from Ryan Morash put runners on the corners and the Pride then took advantage of Manhattan (15-25) starter Jacob Knight's wildness. Knight uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Sica to score and move Morash, who was stealing on the pitch, to third. A second wild pitch in the inning allowed Morash to come in with Hofstra's third run.

The score remained 3-0 until the fifth when Joyce took Alexis Calderon deep for his first career home run. The Jaspers put up a run in the bottom of the fifth on Shawn Blake's sacrifice fly.

Five Hofstra pitchers combined to limit Manhattan to the one run on eight hits. Steven Boscia (3-0) started for the Pride and allowed two hits in three scoreless innings. Michael James, Matt Siedem, Seamus Brazill, and Daniel Page followed with Page notching his fourth save of the season.

Knight (1-2) took the loss for the Jaspers after allowing three runs on four hits in three innings. Calderon turned in five innings of relief before Matt Jones pitched the ninth.

Anthony D'Onofrio had two hits, the only Hofstra player to record multiple hits. Dominic Palma had two hits for the Jaspers.

Hofstra is back in action Friday night at 6 p.m. when it opens a three-game series at James Madison.
