Ronia Dolabany won in three sets at the No. 6 flight to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Pride a 4-3 victory Friday at the WAC Tennis Courts. Hofstra won four of the six singles flights.
The Pride moved to 10-7 with the win while Fairfield fell to 7-6.
Hofstra started the match by winning at third doubles as
Sarah Catherine Herndon and
Jasmine King downed Anna Komer and Jessica Pil, 6-2. The Stags rallied and won the next two flights to take a 1-0 match lead.
Hofstra took a 2-1 lead after the first two singles flights were completed. Herndon defeated Komer at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0, and
Ana Canahuate-Torres got past Sophia Prinos, 6-0, 6-4.
Fairfield evened the match with a win at No. 2 before Ruffini beat Diana Prinos at No. 1 (6-4, 6-4) to put the Pride up, 3-2. Aina March picked up the win at No. 3 to even the score once again and leave the outcome up to the result of the No. 6 flight match between Dolabany and Emily Lombardi. Lombardi won the first set, 7-6, before Dolabany rallied to take the second set 6-3 and the third set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
Hofstra returns to action Sunday at Monmouth.
