Emmitsburg, MD - The Hofstra Women's Tennis team won its fourth consecutive match Wednesday in a 5-2 victory over Mount St. Mary's. The Pride improved to 9-6 with the win.
Hofstra fell behind, 1-0, after doubles as Mount St. Mary's (0-12) won two of three flights.
Sarah Catherine Herndon and
Jasmine King had the Pride's lone doubles win with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
But the Pride dominated singles play, winning the first five completed flights. King started things off with a straight set win over Megan Smith (6-3, 6-0).
Alejandra Ruffini defeated Alexa Quintanilla at No. 1 after the Mount St. Mary's player had to retire down a set.
Katherine Kachkarov had a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 against Hannah Davis before
Odessa Stork clinched the win at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Mia Pittman.
Ana Canahuate-Torres also won for the Pride, posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 against Emma Blake.
Hofstra returns to action Thursday at Temple. The match will take place at Legacy Tennis Center in Philadelphia at 9 a.m.
