Sarah Catherine Herndon picked up Hofstra's lone win of the day as NJIT posted a 6-1 victory over the Pride Sunday at the Naimoli Center.
Hofstra fell to 5-6 on the season with the loss. NJIT improved to 11-2 with the victory.
The Pride fell behind 1-0 after dropping all three doubles matches. Herndon and
Jasmine King put up a battle at No. 1 before falling, 7-6, to Holly Matson and Joleta Budiman.
After losses at No. 2 and No. 1 singles, Herndon notched a 7-6, 6-0 win over Adara Omar at the No. 4 flight to make it a 3-1 match. But the Highlanders regrouped and Shamika Dhar defeated
Katherine Kachkarov in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) to clinch the match victory.
Hofstra is back in action Friday night at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart.
