North Charleston, SC - Graduate student Jacquil Taylor had 16 points, 11 rebounds, five blocked shots and two steals to lead the Hofstra Men's Basketball team to a 76-67 win over James Madison in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Sunday afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum. This will be the Pride's first appearance in the CAA semifinals since the 2015-16 season. 

The double-double was the sixth of the season for Taylor. 

Hofstra is now 26-6 on the season, tying the school record for wins in a season. Previously the 1951-52, 2000-01 and 2005-06 squads won 26 games. James Madison, which advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Towson on Saturday, sees its season come to an end with a record of 14-19. 

Hofstra was hot early on as the Pride scored 14 of the first 18 points in the game to take a 14-4 lead with 13:21 on the clock following a layup from junior Eli Pemberton. The Pride would continue to lead the entirety of the first half with James Madison closing the gap to six, 27-21, after a three-pointer from Matthew Urbach, before Hofstra used an 8-2 run to push the lead to 12, 35-23, with 2:42 remaining before intermission. The Dukes used a late 7-0 run to close the deficit to five with under a minute to play before senior Desure Buie gave Hofstra a seven-point halftime cushion with a late bucket. 

With Hofstra still holding a seven-point advantage, 44-37, with 16:29 left in the second stanza, James Madison began to mount a comeback and the Dukes would use a 9-2 run to knot the score at 46 following a three-pointer from Matt Lewis with 14:35 left in regulation. 

The score would be knotted at 49 before Hofstra used a 10-2 run to push the lead back up to eight, 59-51, after a three-pointer from sophomore Jalen Ray with 8:11 on the clock. Ray had a pair of three-pointers during the run to push the Pride back in front. The Dukes gradually chipped away and closed the gap to three, 64-61, with three minutes left but Hofstra was strong down the stretch and held on for the nine-point victory. 

Hofstra placed five players in double figures as senior Justin Wright-Foreman led the way with 17 points and added four assists. Taylor, Pemberton (13), Ray (13) and Buie (10) joined him. 

Matt Lewis led James Madison with 23 points, while Darius Banks added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Dukes. 

Hofstra moves on to face Delaware in the semifinals on Monday at 6 p.m. That game will air nationally on the CBS Sports Network. 

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 20-13 all-time against James Madison. The team's split the regular season meetings with each winning on the opponent's home court. 
- Wright-Foreman moved into third place all-time at Hofstra in scoring. He now has 2,227 career points and passed Steve Nisenson, who had 2,222 from 1962-65. 
- Pemberton moved into 15th place all-time at Hofstra in scoring. He now has 1,355 career points and passed Barry White, who had 1,344 from 1966-69. 
- Wright-Foreman scored in double figures for the 85th consecutive game. It is the second-longest streak in the nation and the eighth-longest in the history of NCAA Division I.
