Staten Island, NY – The new era of Hofstra indoor track began at the Fastrack Season Opener at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Friday night with the Pride competing in six events.
In the 60m dash five Pride runners competed with junior
Tosin Ibironke leading the way by placing 63rd in 7.86. Junior
Ralph Licciardi was 64th in 7.86, junior Jorey Garcia was 65th in 7.86, freshman
Ben Haber was 73rd in 9.65 and
Paul Markovina was 75th in 10.69.
Four runners competed in the 200m dash with freshman Darius Parker placing 54th in 24.27 to lead Hofstra. Sophomore
Gavin Jones was 57th in 24.68, junior
Sean Masterson was 64th in 25.75 and freshman Eryk Yarkosky was 67th in 26.07.
Two Pride student-athletes competed in the 400m run with junior
Konrad Rynkowski placing 45th in 57.07 and
Sean Masterson placing 47th in 57.36.
Junior
Andrew Giovinazzo was the Pride's lone entry in the 800m run and placed 25th in 2:12.85.
Two Hofstra student-athletes competed in the mile run with freshman
Dylan Price placing 32nd in 4:58.44 and junior
Tyler McPartland finishing 35th in 5:01.27.
Hofstra's two-time CAA Cross Country champion and 2019 NCAA Northeast Regional champion, senior
Alex Masai placed 32nd in the long jump with a leap of 11'11".75.
The Pride will return to action on Saturday, December 7 when they compete in the Army West Point Crowell Open at the Gillis Field House. Competition begins at 9 a.m.
