Hempstead, NY - Another exciting season of Hofstra men's basketball is on the horizon as the Pride will open the 2019-20 season on Wednesday when it hosts San Jose State.
Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is slated for 7 p.m.
Hofstra is poised for another strong year and the season gets underway with two straight home games, starting with the Spartans. For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com, call (516) HOF-TIXX or stop by the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex during normal business hours.
There will be FREE gold rush t-shirts for the first 500 students at the game! Saturday's 4 p.m. game against Monmouth will feature free "Military Appreciation Day" t-shirts for the first 750 students and 750 fans.
The game will air on FloHoops and WRHU (88.7 FM) will also provide audio for the broadcast as well. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra will look to build upon its record-setting 2018-19 season in which the program won a school-record 27 games, captured the regular season Colonial Athletic Association crown and advanced to the National Invitation Tournament.
Hofstra, picked first in the preseason CAA poll, will be led this season by a pair of seniors as
Desure Buie and
Eli Pemberton will team up with a strong group of returnees and a talented crew of newcomers to push the Pride to the postseason. Pemberton and Buie both earned preseason honors from the CAA as Pemberton was named to the first team and Buie earned second team honors.
This will mark the first-ever meeting for the Pride against San Jose State, which won four games a season ago. The Pride has limited experience against teams from the Mountain West Conference as Hofstra has only faced two current members of the league, defeating Air Force in 1991-92 and falling to UNLV in 1992-93.
