WREST: Hofstra Heads To The Black Knight Invitational At West Point Sunday

Hempstead, NY- The Hofstra Wrestling team will be one of eight colleges competing in the 2019 Army West Point Black Knight Invitational at Christl Arena on Sunday, November 17. The tournament begins at 10 a.m.

FloSports.com will provide streaming video of the Army West Point Black Knight Invitational through FloWrestling. Fans who have purchased a FloSports subscription for other sports, like CAA Sports on FloSports, will also be able to access the wrestling events on FloWrestling. The 2019 Army West Point Black Knight Invitational will feature the host Black Knights, Hofstra, Central Michigan, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Bloomsburg, and defending NCAA National Champion and current top-ranked Penn State.

Hofstra is expected to bring seven wrestlers to the Black Knight Invitational. The Pride line-up will see red-shirt sophomore Charlie Kane and freshman Reece Heller at 149, red-shirt junior Ricky Stamm at 165, red-shirt freshman Giuseppe Hoose at 184, sophomore Trey Rogers at 197, and red-shirt sophomore Zachary Knighton-Ward and red-shirt freshman Reggie Poulin at 285. Hoose and Rogers will be making their 2019-20 debuts.

Hofstra is coming off a solid performance at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Troy, New York last Sunday. The Pride placed seven wrestlers in the top three of their weight class pool including freshman Reece Heller who won his 149-lb. weight class pool with a 4-0 mark on the mat. Newcomers Ross McFarland (2-1) and Justin Hoyle (1-2), who both wrestled unattached, placed second in the 165D and 133D pools, respectively.

Four Pride wrestlers placed third led by red-shirt junior Ricky Stamm, who took home bronze honors with a 2-1 record in the 165-pound A pool. Classmate Sage Heller also placed third in the 174A pool with a 2-2 mark as did red-shirt sophomore Zachary Knighton-Ward with a 2-1 mark in the 285B pool, and red-shirt freshman Reggie Poulin, who was 1-2 in the 285E pool.

Following the Black Knight Invitational, Hofstra will return to action on Thursday, November 21 when the Pride begin their dual match home schedule against the Falcons of Air Force at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Match time is 7 p.m.
