1/4/2019 8:25:00 PM

Bloomsburg, PA –Freshman Dylan Ryder continued his winning ways with a technical fall win in the match opener but the Pride couldn't complete a late comeback as the Huskies of Bloomsburg defeated Hofstra, 21-14 in a non-conference match at the Nelson Field House Friday night.

Ryder, who won his third consecutive match at 125 to improve to 11-8 on the season and 3-1 in dual matches, was one of four Pride wrestlers to post victories on the night. Red-shirt sophomore Trent Olson posted a 5-2 win over Bloomsburg's Lewis Williams at 133, classmate Ricky Stamm defeated BU's Dominic DeMarco, 4-1 at 165, and senior Nezar Haddad edged Bloomsburg's Kyle Murphy in sudden victory, 6-4 at 197 for all of the Pride's points.

Hofstra jumped out to an 8-0 lead behind Ryder and Olson before the Huskies won the next three matches, including a key forfeit at 149, to take a 12-8 lead. Stamm ended the Huskies' run to close the deficit to 12-11. Hofstra freshman Corey Langner making his official debut with the Pride for the injured Sage Heller, battled but dropped a 3-0 decision at 174, and Trevor Allard posted a win by decision for the Huskies at 184 to boost the lead to 18-11. Nezar Haddad brought the Pride to within four points with a sudden victory win at 197 but younger brother Omar Haddad couldn't pull out a victory at 285 as Hofstra fell, 21-14.

Hofstra returns to action on Sunday, January 6 when the Pride travel to Western New York to face the Buffalo Bulls at the Alumni Arena. Match time is 1 p.m.
