MGOLF: Shelly Tied For 19th After Two Rounds At Doc Gimmler

Farmingdale, NY - Eric Shelly shot rounds of 73 (+3) and 70 (E) to lead Hofstra on day one of the Doc Gimmler, hosted by St. John's at Bethpage State Park Saturday. The Pride is tied for 13th in the 14-team field.

Shelly was tied for 31st after his first round, but his even par second round moved him up 12 spots as he is now tied for 19th in the 84-player field at 143 (+3). Alec Aronson is next on the leader board for the Pride, as he is tied for 46th at 148 (+8) following rounds of 73 (+3) and 75 (+5). Kenyon Kautz is in 14th place with a 155 (+15) after shooting rounds of 77 (+7) and 78 (+8). Tim Hall is in 80th place at 159 (+19) following scores of 75 (+5) and 84 (+14), while fellow newcomer Sean Haselton is 81st at 162 (+22) with two rounds of 81 (+11). Nick Quinn, who is playing as an individual entrant, is 83rd at 165 (+25) with scores of 84 (+14) and 81 (+11).

Hofstra shot rounds of 298 (+18) and 304 (+24) for a two-round total of 602 (+42). The Pride is tied with Manhattan. Rhode Island leads the team competition with an even par 560. Connecticut is second at 562 (+2). Johnson & Wales (564) and Yale (566) are third and fourth, respectively.

Dawson Jones of Rhode Island and Nick Harrington of Connecticut are tied for the individual lead at 136 (-4). Both players shot a pair of 68's (-2) during their rounds on Saturday.

The final round of the Doc Gimmler will tee off Sunday morning.
