Stony Brook, NY - Sophomore Odessa Stork and freshman Katherine Kachkarov advanced to the quarterfinals of the C Singles draw during day one of the 13th Annual Stony Brook Classic Friday.

Stork defeated Proyfon Lohaphaisan of Quinnipiac, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7), to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round, where she will face Katreina Corpuz of Navy. Kachkarov debuted with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jennifer Gogova of LIU Brooklyn and will face Quinnipiac's Courtney Nash in the quarterfinals.

The Pride has eight other student-athletes competing across the four singles flights. Each dropped their first round matches and will play in the consolation bracket on Saturday. Hofstra also saw its five doubles teams eliminated from the main draw during Friday's competition.
