Charlottesville, Va. – The Hofstra Women's Soccer team fell to No. 6 Virginia, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Klockner Stadium.
The Pride dropped to 3-2 on the season while the Cavaliers stayed unbeaten at 5-0.
Virginia got on the board in 18th minute, making good on a penalty kick, before doubling its lead in the 30th minute. The Cavaliers would get another before the end of the first half, taking a 3-0 advantage into the break.
Virginia added a fourth in the 50th minute. Hofstra then spoiled the Cavaliers' shutout with freshman
Megan Fisher netting her first career goal in the 64th minute. Senior defender
Monique Iannella hustled upfield to keep the play alive and fed into the box for sophomore
Sabrina Bryan. Bryan then poked it across to Fisher, who settled and buried her shot off the bottom of the crossbar.
Virginia then tacked on one more in the 75th minute.
The Pride returns to action on Thursday, playing a 7 p.m. match at Fairleigh Dickinson.
