New York, NY - Ana Canahuate-Torres and Mandisa Wallé advanced to the semifinals of the Westchester Draw, while Sarah Catherine Herndon, Katherine Kachkarov, and Ronia Dolabany advanced to the consolation finals in their respective draws as Hofstra completed first day play at the Columbia Invitational.

Wallé defeated her Pride teammate, Rosemary Rouskouva, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of eight to advance to Saturday's semifinals. Canahuate-Torres downed Brianna Williams of Columbia, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the other semifinal.

Herndon lost her first-round match in the Queens Draw, but won her consolation semifinal match over Jessica Brzozowska of LIU Brooklyn, 3-6, 6-2, 11-9. Kachkarov lost her first match in the Bronx Draw before rebounding to defeat Tatiana Grigoryan of Fordham in the consolation semifinal (7-6, 5-7, 10-6). Dolabany also lost her first round match at the Staten Island draw, but advanced to the consolation finals with a win by default in the semifinals.

Day two play gets underway at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
