Nanishka Perez posted 15 kills, seven digs and five blocks for Hofstra, but Loyola Marymount rallied after dropping the first set to defeat the Hofstra Volleyball team in four sets on Friday afternoon at the Hilton Penn's Landing Temple Invitational.
The match was the season opener for the Pride, while Loyola Marymount improved to 2-0 in 2018. Set scores were 22-25, 26-24, 25-15 and 25-18 in favor of the Lions.
Hofstra captured the first set, 25-22, as the Pride hit at a .361 clip to take the early lead in the match. The second stanza was knotted at 24 before the Lions scored the final two points to even the match and turn the momentum in their direction as they eventually won the contest in four sets.
Junior
Laura Masciullo added 13 kills for Hofstra, while freshman
Aisha Skinner posted 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks in her collegiate debut. Junior
Luisa Sydlik had the first double-double of the year for Hofstra with 45 assists and 10 digs. Sara Kovac tallied 18 kills and 14 digs for LMU, while Tess Reid notched 53 assists and 15 digs for the Lions.
Hofstra has a pair of matches on the schedule tomorrow as they will take on Rhode Island at 2 p.m. and Temple at 7 p.m.
