WGOLF: Hofstra Ties For Fifth At Sacred Heart Invitational

Milford, CT - Larissa Stergiou tied for 13th place and Ana Sofia Rodriguez finished tied for 19th place to help Hofstra to a fifth place finish at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational at Great River Golf Club Monday afternoon.

Hofstra finished with a two-round total of 686 (+110) following rounds of 346 and 338. St. John's won the eight-team tournament at 629 (+53), 20 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Sacred Heart.

Stergiou shot a combined 167 (+23) to tie with four other players in the 43-player field. The graduate student shot rounds of 85 (+13) and 82 (+10). Rodriguez had rounds of 86 (+14) and 84 (+12) for a two-day score of 170 (+26). Amanda Bigger ted for 21st at 171 (+27) with scores of 88 (+16) and 83 (+11), while Shannon Haselton tied for 29th at 176 (+32) following rounds of 87 (+15) and 89 (+17).

Andrea Sanchez of St. John's was the individual medalist, carding a two-day 149 (+5) with rounds of 76 (+4) and 73 (+1). Sara Riso of Siena was second at 152 (+8).

Hofstra is back in action this Friday through Sunday at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship in Southport, North Carolina.
