Newark, Del. – The Hofstra Softball team completed the Colonial Athletic Association sweep of Delaware with a dominant 14-4 win in five innings on Sunday afternoon at UD Softball Stadium.
The Pride (28-8, 12-0 CAA) extended its win streak to 10 games while staying unbeaten in conference play. The Blue Hens dropped to 10-28 and 2-10 in the league.
Senior
Brielle Pietrafesa was 4-for-4 on the day as nine Hofstra players recorded hits and seven finished with at least one RBI.
The Pride broke the game open in the top of the second, with seniors

Kaitlyne Musa then reached on a fielder's choice, before singles from redshirt-senior
Michaela Transue and sophomore
Kristin Hallam brought in three runs. With Hallam still on base, senior
Brielle Pietrafesa dropped a ball into deep left field and turned it into an inside-the-park home run to plate two more for a 5-0 Hofstra lead.
The Blue Hens got on the board in the bottom of the third, with Mariah Kondravy's double to left field bringing in a pair of runs.
Senior
Sarah Edwards opened an eight-run top of the fourth with a double off the right-field wall to drive in two runs before freshman
Kimberly Wert doubled to left to bring in another. Michalowski tripled to left field for two more runs, and Transue plated a run with single through the left side. Pietrafesa capped the inning with a two-run double to right-center for a 13-2 advantage.
Delaware tacked on another run in the bottom of the inning before Hallam snared down a hard-hit line drive and turned a double play to get out of the inning.
A single through the left side from Musa in the top of the fifth pushed the Hofstra lead to 14-3.
The Blue Hens tacked on one final run in the bottom of the fifth for the final 14-4 score.
The Pride return home on Tuesday, hosting Wagner in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. at Bill Edwards Stadium.
Notes:
-Hofstra's 15 hits and 14 runs both tied season highs.
-The Pride has now homered in 19 straight games and has 42 home runs on the season, good for seventh-most in program history.
-Pietrafesa's 11th home run ties her for 10th all-time in single-season home runs. She and Allocca are tied for fourth all-time with 31 career homers each.
-Hofstra's 12-0 record in conference play marks its best start since going 19-0 in 2012.
