WGOLF: Stergiou 19th After First Round Of CAA Championship

Southport, NC - Larissa Stergiou had the best round of the day for the Pride, a 7-over 79, as day one of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship wrapped up at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation. 
 
Stergiou is in a tie for 19th place in the 39-player field after 18 holes. The graduate student had two birdies and eight pars during her round. Amanda Bigger is tied for 25th at 82 (+10) after a round that featured the senior scoring par on 11 holes, which ranks second in the field after one round. Shannon Haselton is in 38th place at 93 (+21), while Ana Sofia Rodriguez shot a 95 (+23) and is 39th. 
 
Hofstra is in eighth place after round one with a team score of 349 (+61).  College of Charleston leads the field at 299 (+11), followed by two-time defending champion Delaware at 305 (+17) and UNCW at 307 (+19). 
 
Laura Gomez (James Madison) has individual lead at 72 (E). Thitaree Sakulbunpanich (Delaware), Victoria Huskey (Charleston), Isi Nilsson (Charleston) and Ariane Klotz (Dleaware) are tied for second place, two strokes back. 
 
Round two of the CAA Championship gets underway Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
