Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball team will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut, Wednesday for a non-conference matchup with the Stags of Fairfield University. First pitch at Alumni Baseball Diamond is scheduled for 3 p.m. Pride Productions Live Audio will be available online with PJ Potter, Joe Barone and John Napolitano of WRHU (Radio Hofstra University) handling the call. The Pride is 14-10 on the season and is coming off a 2-1 weekend against CAA foe Delaware. The Pride picked up 9-0 and 11-1 victories in the first two games before falling in the series finale, 5-3, in 10 innings.
John Rooney (complete game shutout with 11 K in Friday's win) and
Teddy Cillis (.727 average, 4 doubles) earned CAA Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards, respectively, following their stellar performances.Â
Fairfield, which advanced to NCAA Regionals in 2016, is currently 11-16 on the season. The Stags did sweep a three-game conference series against Rider this past weekend to improve to 4-2 at home. Fairfield leads the all-time series with Hofstra, 11-8, and has won the last three meetings.Â
Brad Camarda will start the game for the Pride. The freshman is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in seven appearances and has made three starts. Eli Oliphant will get the nod for Fairfield. The sophomore is 2-1 with a staff-best 2.38 ERA in seven appearances (four starts).
After playing Fairfield, the Pride will return to conference play when they travel to Elon for a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
