WTEN: Hofstra Downs Siena

Box Score Latham, NY - After dropping the doubles point, Hofstra swept singles to post a 6-1 victory over Siena Friday night. Odessa Stork's straight set victory at No. 5 singles clinched the win for the Pride.

Hofstra moved to 6-5 on the season. Siena, which was a MAAC finalist last season, dropped to 7-6 on the year.

The Saints swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. But the Pride controlled singles play, starting with Alejandra Ruffini at No.3 as the freshman defeated Juliana Goehner, 6-1 and 6-3. Classmate Ronia Dolabany followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Julia Dunbar at No. 6. Michal Kaplan put the Pride up, 3-1, with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Nanea Perkins at No. 1. Stork clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 over Ann Phillips. Sarah Catherine Herndon (No. 4) and Jasmine King (No. 2) both picked up three-set victories to complete the singles sweep.

The Pride is back in action Saturday morning at NJIT.
