BB: Hofstra Falls To Albany In Series Finale

Hempstead, NY - Vito Friscia, Mikey Riesner and Tyler White each had a pair of hits, but it was not enough as Albany took the rubber game of a three-game series, 6-4, Sunday at University Field.

Hofstra fell to 9-4 with the loss, while the Great Danes improved to 7-5.

Hofstra took a 2-0 lead in the third as Austin Gauthier drove in White with a single. Gauthier would come around to score on a single from Friscia later in the inning.
But Albany scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. A leadoff walk, a single and a passed ball put runners on second and third with no outs. The Great Danes then got on the board on a wild pitch. A RBI single from Matt Codispoti drove in the tying run and Albany would add two more unearned run in the inning for the 4-2 lead. The Pride got a run back in the sixth as Friscia led off with a double and scored on Parker Quinn's sacrifice fly. The Great Danes tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh, scoring a run on a throwing error on a play at third base and another on Marc Wangenstein's sacrifice fly. Gauthier would drive in Hofstra's final run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly, his second RBI of the game.

Hofstra starter Teddy Cillis (0-1) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings. He walked four and struck out eight.
