Tyler White each had a pair of hits, but it was not enough as Albany took the rubber game of a three-game series, 6-4, Sunday at University Field.
Hofstra fell to 9-4 with the loss, while the Great Danes improved to 7-5.
Hofstra took a 2-0 lead in the third as
Austin Gauthier drove in White with a single. Gauthier would come around to score on a single from Friscia later in the inning.
But Albany scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. A leadoff walk, a single and a passed ball put runners on second and third with no outs. The Great Danes then got on the board on a wild pitch. A RBI single from Matt Codispoti drove in the tying run and Albany would add two more unearned run in the inning for the 4-2 lead. The Pride got a run back in the sixth as Friscia led off with a double and scored on
Parker Quinn's sacrifice fly. The Great Danes tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh, scoring a run on a throwing error on a play at third base and another on Marc Wangenstein's sacrifice fly. Gauthier would drive in Hofstra's final run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly, his second RBI of the game.
Hofstra starter
Teddy Cillis (0-1) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings. He walked four and struck out eight. Albany starter John Clayton (1-1) notched his first win, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Dan Yankowski went the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit, to notch his first save.
???????Hofstra is back in action Friday when it opens Colonial Athletic Association play at UNCW. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

-Friscia extended his hitting streak to eight games with his seventh multi-hit game of the season.

Steven Foster extended his on-base streak to 10 games with a seventh inning walk.

Brad Camarda threw two scoreless innings in relief for Hofstra.
-White was 2-2 with a double, a sacrifice bunt and two runs scored.
-Hofstra is now 9-8 all-time versus Albany.
