Jimmy Yanes tallied six points on three goals and three assists, while freshman
Dylan McIntosh poured in a game-high four goals to lead the #19 Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team to a 12-8 victory over Providence on Saturday afternoon at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
Sophomore
Kyle Gallagher was huge for Hofstra in face-offs as he was 16-23 in the game, including five of six in the pivotal third quarter. Senior
Jack Concannon posted seven saves in the game to lead a strong defensive effort in the final 30 minutes.
The win was Hofstra's fourth straight and improves the Pride's record to 4-2 this season. Providence slipped to 3-5 with the loss.
Providence got on the board first with a goal from Austin Goltz with 13:44 showing on the clock. Hofstra would respond, almost immediately, and got goals from Gallagher and sophomore
Ryan Tierney, to make it 2-1 with 12:10 left in the first quarter. A high-scoring first stanza saw a total of seven goals scored with the Pride leading 4-3 after one quarter courtesy of goals from McIntosh and Yanes in the final four minutes of the quarter. Providence would rally and take the halftime lead as they outscored the Pride, 3-1 in the second quarter. With the Friars leading 6-4 late in the second stanza, Tierney scored his second of the game with 1:08 left before intermission to make it a one-goal game at the break.
Led by the trio of Gallagher, Yanes and Concannon, Hofstra took over in the third quarter as the Pride outscored the Friars, 4-1, to lead 9-7 heading into the final quarter. Sophomore
Ryan Kinnard knotted the game at six with 11:18 left in the third. After Providence regained the lead less than a minute later, Hofstra would score the final three goals of the third quarter to take complete control of the contest. Yanes had a pair of goals during the period, Gallagher won five of six face-offs in the third and Concannon tallied three saves as the trio helped the Pride retake the lead. The dominant half for Hofstra would continue into the fourth quarter as the Pride scored three of the four goals in the final quarter after the game-changing third quarter. McIntosh was huge late as he tallied three of Hofstra's final three of the Pride's final five goals.

Dominic Pryor had a goal and two assists. Nick Hatzipetrakos had two goals for Providence and the Friars also got 11 saves from Tate Boyce.

- Hofstra leads the all-time series with Providence, 6-1. The Pride won last season's meeting in Hempstead by the score of 11-10.
