MTEN: Fordham Gets Past Hofstra

Box Score Bethpage, NY - Hofstra won two singles flights and one doubles match, but fell to Fordham Friday night at Sportime. Hofstra slipped to 2-2 on the season with the loss.

The Rams (5-2) took the doubles point, winning two of the three flights. Max Green and Allen Thornes got things started for Fordham with a 6-1 win over the Pride's Nick Silvestri and David Schrott at No. 3. After Niko Vulinovich and Coco Haener picked up a 6-3 win over Lutwin de Macar and Fabian Mauritzson at the No. 1 flight, the point came down to the No. 2 flight. Fordham prevailed with a 6-4 win by Finn Kemper and Jeremy Chung over Marcus Smith and Jan Leithner.

Smith started singles on a high note for Hofstra with a 6-4, 6-1 win over de Macar at first singles. Thornes would put Fordham up, 2-1, with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Vulinovich at No. 4. Green's 6-2, 6-4 win over Haener at No. 3 gave the Rams a 3-1 lead. Kemper then clinched the match for the visitors with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5. Leithner did pick up a win (6-4, 6-2) over Mauritzson at No. 2, while Alex Makatsaria picked up Fordham's final point with a win over Silvestri at No. 6.

Hofstra return to action Saturday night, hosting James Madison at Sportime at 5 p.m.
