MBB: The Long Island Rivalry Next Up For Hofstra

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Men's Basketball team heads east on Wednesday as the Pride will face Stony Brook in "The Long Island Rivalry", presented by The Greene Turtle.

Hofstra has owned the series as of late as the Pride has won four of the last five meetings dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Tip-off from Island Federal Credit Union Arena in Stony Brook, New York, is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There will be ESPN+ live video, Pride Productions live audio and live statistics of the game. Links to all three can be found on this page or on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. Audio for the Pride Productions broadcast is courtesy of WRHU (88.7 FM).

Hofstra (8-3) is coming off its most complete effort of the season as the Pride dominated Manhattan on December 10 to the tune of an 80-50 victory over the Jaspers. Junior Tareq Coburn posted a career-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. Senior Desure Buie also had a strong game with 18 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals.

The win extended Hofstra's win streak to five games, the program's longest since an eight game-streak in 2015-16.

Senior Justin Wright-Foreman leads the team with 25.7 points and 4.2 assists per contest. Hofstra has also gotten solid contributions out of junior Eli Pemberton with 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds and Buie with 9.5 points and 4.0 assists per outing.

Stony Brook is 10-2 this season and has won two straight games, including a 74-68 victory over Delaware on Sunday. Akwasi Yeboah leads the Seawolves with 20.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with Stony Brook, 21-5, in a series that began in the 1972-73 campaign. The Pride posted an 84-81 win a season ago in Stony Brook as Wright-Foreman had 33 points and Buie added 19. Hofstra won the first-ever meeting 103-80 and was victorious in each of the first six meetings between the schools.
