Justin Wright-Foreman poured in a game-high 34 points, but the Hofstra Men's Basketball team dropped a highly-entertaining contest to Marshall, 76-72, on Sunday afternoon at the Cam Henderson Center. Junior
Eli Pemberton added 19 points for Hofstra in the contest.
The loss drops the Pride's record to 1-1 this season, while Marshall improves to 2-0.
Hofstra led by as many as six in the opening stanza as a pair of free throws from Wright-Foreman made it 45-39 with 47 seconds left before intermission. Wright-Foreman was the star of the first 20 minutes with 25 first half points. The Pride took a three-point lead into the break but the Herd used a 12-0 run spanning the two halves to lead 51-45 early in the second half.
Trailing 54-45 with under 16 minutes remaining in the second half, Hofstra would put together an 11-0 scoring run to take a 56-54 advantage with 11:33 left after a three-pointer from sophomore
Jalen Ray.
With the game knotted at 66, Pemberton drained a three-pointer to push the lead to three for Hofstra with 3:40 left. Marshall responded, though, and the Herd used a 7-0 run to take a 73-69 lead with under two minutes to play and would hold on for the four-point victory.
Pemberton added 12 rebounds for his third career double-double, while graduate
Dan Dwyer had eight rebounds for the Pride. Jon Elmore finished with 30 points for Marshall, while C.J. Burks added 23.

- Hofstra is now 2-1 all-time against Marshall. The two previous matchups occuring during the 2006-07 and 2012-13 seasons.
- With his 34 points,
Justin Wright-Foreman moved into 12th place all-time at Hofstra in scoring. He now has 1,433 career points and passed Rick Apodaca, who had 1,422 points from 1999-2003.
- Wright-Foreman crossed the 30-point plateau for the 12th time in his career.
- Wright-Foreman has now scored in double figures in 55 straight games and it ranks as the nation's 4th-longest streak. Ironically, the nation's 3rd-longest streak is on Marshall as Jon Elmore is at 66 straight games with his 30 points in the game.
