WREST: Hofstra Heads Upstate For The Journeymen Collegiate Classic

Hempstead, NY  - The Hofstra Wrestling team heads to their second tournament of the season on Sunday, November 11 when the Pride travel to Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York for the Journeymen/My House Collegiate Classic. Competition begins at 9 a.m.

The round robin individual tournament will feature wrestlers from North Carolina State University, Lehigh University, Purdue University, Edinboro University, University of Oklahoma, West Virginia University, Hofstra University, The Citadel, Utah Valley University, Lock Haven University, Army West Point, Bloomsburg University, University of Wyoming, Appalachian State University, Ithaca College, and LIU-CW Post.
 
Thirteen Pride wrestlers, including seven who will wrestle attached to Hofstra, will compete in the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Expected to be wrestling attached are Dylan Ryder at 125; Trent Olson at 133; Garrett Lambert at 141; Ricky Stamm at 165; Sage Heller at 174; Michael Oxley at 184; and Nezar Haddad at 197. Wrestling unattached will be Matthew Templeton at 125; Holden Heller at 149; Corey Langner at 165; Trey Rogers at 184; Zachary Knighton-Ward and Reggie Poulin at 285.
 
Last week at the Princeton Open, fifteen Pride wrestlers competed in the tournament. Freshman Dylan Ryder, who was wrestling unattached, placed seventh at 125 pounds with a 3-2 record. Six more Pride grapplers posted .500 record as redshirt freshman Trent Olson at 133, redshirt sophomore Ricky Stamm at 165, freshman Trey Rogers at 184, redshirt senior Nezar Haddad at 197 and sophomore Zachary Knighton-Ward at 285 each recorded 2-2 records. Redshirt junior Omar Haddad was 1-1 at 285.

Three Hofstra wrestlers, redshirt sophomore Chris Mauriello at 157, junior Sage Heller at 174 and senior Michael Oxley at 184, each went 1-2 at Princeton. Freshman Matt Templeton (0-2) and junior Jacob Martin (0-1) at 125, redshirt sophomore Garrett Lambert (0-2) at 141, freshman Corey Langner (0-2) at 174 and classmate Reggie Poulin (0-2) at 285 each went winless.

Following the Journeymen Collegiate Classic Hofstra will open their dual match home schedule at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Friday, November 16 when the Pride host the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. Match time is 6 p.m.
