Hempstead, NY – In an international friendly exhibition contest, the Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team tallied seven unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 29-7 victory over Kwansei Gakuin University of Japan at James M. Shuart Stadium Tuesday night.

Hofstra sophomore Dylan McIntosh tallied a game-high six goals and two assists while fellow attackmen junior Ryan Tierney added four goals and three assists and freshman Whit Stopak chipped in with three goals and a game-high four assists. Three Pride goalies saw action in the contest.

Kwansei was led by Tomoaki Amano and Yuki Hashimoto with two goals each. Taro Morishita recorded seven saves in the Kwansei cage.

The visitors from Japan fired the opening shot with Hashimoto putting Kwansei on the board first just 2:30 into the contest. But Hofstra answered with seven consecutive goals, including three by Tierney, Kwansei rallied with consecutive goals by Ibuki Tanaka and Hashimoto to close the gap to 7-3. But senior Griffin Barnathan's goal with 1:40 to play in the first started an eight-goal Hofstra run that put the Pride up, 15-3 in the second quarter.

Hofstra used every healthy body on the roster as the Pride prepared to face Air Force and Bucknell on Saturday, October 13 in the HEADstrong Foundation's Nicholas Colleluori Long Island Classic at Shuart Stadium. Hofstra faces Air Force at 9 a.m. and Bucknell at noon while play continues with six teams until 6:30 p.m.
