WSOC: Hofstra Wraps Up Regular Season With Win Over Charleston

Hempstead, NY – Sabrina Bryan scored her ninth goal of the season less than three minutes into the game and the Pride defense made it stand up as Hofstra picked up a 1-0 victory over Charleston Sunday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The game was the Pride's regular season finale.

Hofstra improved to 12-5-1 overall and 6-2-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play, and clinched the third seed in the upcoming CAA Championship. Charleston slipped to 10-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league action. The Cougars will be the fourth seed in the CAA Championship.

The Hofstra goal came on a rush that saw Miri Taylor back heel a pass to Jenn Buoncore just outside the box. Buoncore angled a pass to the feet of Bryan, who turned and deposited her shot past Genevieve Henderson at the 2:55 mark.

Hofstra's defense allowed just seven shots on the day and only one on goal. Hofstra goalkeeper Jenna Borresen did not make a save in the first half, while Ashley Wilson came on in the second half and faced one shot.

Henderson had three saves in the opening 45 minutes while Meredith Holton turned aside two shots in the second half. Hofstra held a 6-7 advantage in shots.

Hofstra will learn its playoff opponent Tuesday night following the conclusion of the UNCW-Elon game that was rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence. The quarterfinal game will be played at Northeastern's Parsons Field on Friday.

-The Pride moved to 6-1-0 all-time versus Charleston.
