Princeton, NJ - Marcus Smith and Jan Leithner advanced in the doubles draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional while Smith was defeated in the singles draw Friday at Princeton University.
 
Smith and Leithner picked up an 8-4 victory over Alex Roskowski and Dusan Vukicevic of St. John's in the opening round. The pair plays again Saturday against the seeded Harvard team of Brian Shi and Logan Weber.
 
Smith won the first set against Buffalo's Ethan Nittolo, 6-4, before dropping the next two sets, 7-5 and 6-4. 
 
The second round of doubles will begin Saturday at 9 a.m.
