Odessa Stork won her first round match in the D Singles bracket, and the team of junior
Sarah Catherine Herndon and sophomore
Jasmine King also won a first round match as the Pride completed first day play at the Stony Brook Classic.
Stork posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over Navy's Danika Kahatapitiya to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round. Herndon and King also advanced to the quarterfinals of the B Doubles bracket with a 7-6 (3) win over the makeshift team of Marta Ruszczynska of Fairleigh Dickinson and Clemence Krug of LIU Brooklyn. But the duo's run ended there with a 6-2 loss to Olaya Inclan Solis and Delia Arranz of St. John's.
The second day of the Stony Brook Classic gets underway Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
