WSOC: Hofstra Extends Unbeaten Streak With Shutout Win Over Drexel

Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra Women's Soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-0 victory over Colonial Athletic Association opponent Drexel on Thursday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

The Pride (7-3-2, 3-0-0 CAA) has won four straight and has allowed just one goal in its past six games. Drexel (6-5-1, 1-1-1 CAA) had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped with the loss.

Senior Kristin Desmond scored her league-leading seventh goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to give Hofstra the lead, calmly placing the shot into the lower left side.

The Pride carried play the rest of the way, outshooting the Dragons, 11-4, in the second half before junior Jenn Buoncore added an insurance goal in the 87th minute. Desmond played the ball into freshman Lucy Shepherd, whose shot floated out into the box after a miscommunication by the Drexel defense, and Buoncore tapped it in.

Hofstra heads to William & Mary on Sunday for a 2 p.m. CAA contest.
