WSOC: Hofstra Extends Unbeaten Streak To Seven With Strong Effort At William & Mary

Williamsburg, VA – Freshman Bella Richards had two assists and junior Jenn Buoncore tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Hofstra Women's Soccer team to a convincing 3-1 victory over William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium.

Hofstra has now won five straight games and is unbeaten in seven straight contests (6-0-1). The Pride improved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-0-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play with the win. William & Mary falls to 4-8-1 and 0-3-1 in the league with the loss.

The Pride got on the scoreboard first as freshman Lucy Porter found the back of the net early on off an assist from Richards to make it 1-0 in the fourth minute. Hofstra would take a 2-0 lead into the break as senior Kristin Desmond scored her team-leading eighth goal of the 2017 campaign in the 33rd minute to allow the Pride to take a commanding lead. Buoncore would finish the Pride scoring in the 55th minute before William & Mary's Sarah Segan finally got on the scoreboard in the final minutes to account for the 3-1 score.

Hofstra returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Towson for a 3 p.m. contest.
