VB: Hofstra Runs Past Bryant For Fourth Straight Win

Hempstead, NY – Freshman Ivania Ortiz tallied 10 kills, 10 digs and four service aces to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a dominating three-set sweep of Bryant on Saturday morning in play at the Hofstra/Asics Invitational at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.

Freshman Emma Price had 11 kills with no errors for a .647 attack percentage in helping the Pride (8-5) to its fourth straight win and seventh win in its last eight matches. Bryant saw its five-match win streak come to an end as it fell to 7-7 on the season.

Hofstra took complete control of the match in the opening stanza as the Pride used a 24-5 set-closing run to turn an early 6-1 deficit into an easy victory and they never looked back in posting the three-set win. Freshman Ana Martinovic added seven kills, six digs and three blocks for Hofstra, which also got seven kills and seven blocks from junior Michela Rucli. Kirstyn Sperry had 16 assist, eight digs and two kills for Bryant.

Hofstra closes play at the Hofstra/Asics Invitational with a 7 p.m. match against Syracuse.
