Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Hofstra Women's Soccer team earned its third straight shutout, topping Stony Brook, 1-0, on Thursday night at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
The Pride improved to 4-3-2 on the season and has now beaten Stony Brook (2-6) in eight straight meetings with the Seawolves.
After sustained offensive pressure from in the first half but a 0-0 score line at the break, senior
Kristin Desmond got the Pride on the board in the 53rd minute, firing a shot into the upper left corner for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Freshman
Sabrina Bryan picked up her second assist of the season on the tally.
Hofstra had a number of other looks on goal, including a shot that just skirted wide early in the first half from junior
Jenn Buoncore and hard strike from freshman
Lucy Shepherd with about nine minutes left in the first frame.
The Pride opens conference play next week, heading to Delaware on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.
