WSOC: Hofstra Outshoots Monmouth, Plays To Scoreless Draw

Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra Women's Soccer Team outshot Monmouth, 27-5, but the game ended in a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

The Pride (3-3-2) forced Hawks goalkeeper Amanda Knaub to make eight saves on the day as Monmouth moved to 3-2-2 on the season.

Freshman Lucy Shepherd had arguably two of Hofstra's best chances of the game. In the second half, Knaub slid out to play the ball, but Shepherd got around her, sending her shot just wide of the empty net. Then, in overtime, Shepherd sent a rocket off the crossbar, just over the hands of Knaub. Senior Noriana Radwan also had a shot that sailed just high of the net.

Senior Jenna Borresen made two saves in her second straight shutout.

The Pride returns to action on Thursday, heading to local rival Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. game.

Notes:
-Borresen has not allowed a goal in her first two complete games.
-Senior Kristin Desmond led Hofstra with eight shots.
-Corner kicks were even at four apiece.
