Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Athletics Pride Club, in conjunction with the Hofstra University Department of Athletics, hosted its first "Thank You BBQ" on Thursday, May 11. 

"Everyone in attendance enjoyed the Hofstra Athletics Pride Club BBQ," commented Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway. "Our generous donors were able to interact and visit throughout the evening with our outstanding senior student-athletes and our coaching staff. We were very excited about inviting all donors to the Department of Athletics as our guests so we could once again extend gratitude and thanks for their continued support. It was also the last opportunity to see our senior student-athletes gather together prior to Commencement on Sunday, May 21."

The event, which took place outside James C. Metzger Hall at James M. Shuart Stadium, brought together Pride Club members, senior student-athletes, coaches and athletic department administrators. It served as way for members of the Hofstra Athletics community, particularly the student-athletes, to say thank you to the Pride Club members for their generous support. 

The BBQ featured several speakers as Hofstra Pride Club President Tony Perettine opened up the speaking portion with a few words and then student-athletes Stella Schoen (field hockey) and Tommy Voelkel (men's lacrosse) offered their thank yous to the assembled Pride Club members. Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway concluded the evening with his thoughts on the evening.
