WTEN: Hofstra Blanks Saint Francis Brooklyn and Coppin State

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Tennis team notched a pair of wins Saturday, downing Saint Francis Brooklyn (7-0) and Coppin State (7-0). The Pride snapped a six match losing streak with the wins and improved to 7-15 on the season. The Terriers of Saint Francis slipped to 1-12, while Coppin State fell to 2-8.

The Pride had not trouble in taking the doubles point from Saint Francis with Tara Reutter and D'Asha Davis winning at the first flight, 6-3, followed by a pair of 6-0 wins from Sarah Catherine Herndon and Michal Kaplan at No. 2 and Carmen Pestano and Giulia Leone at No. 3.

Hofstra also dominated in singles play as well, winning all six flights in straight sets. Herndon and Leone each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Versus the Eagles of Coppin State, Hofstra picked up four 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play as Jasmine King (No. 1), Kaplan (No. 2), Pestano (No. 4) and Leone (No. 5) did not drop a game. It was a special day for Pestano and Leone as the Pride seniors celebrated senior day prior to the Coppin State match.

???????Hofstra plays its fourth match in three days Sunday when it hosts Saint Peter's at 3 p.m.
