Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team was defeated by Stony Brook, 19-4, on Friday night at James M. Shuart Stadium. The game was the Pride's final contest of the 2017 campaign.
Hofstra finishes the season with a record of 8-8, a five win improvement over 2016. The Pride also won a pair of Colonial Athletic Association games in 2017, increasing that total by one from the previous season.
Stony Brook improved to 15-1 with the victory.
A pair of seniors led Hofstra in scoring in their final games as
Becky Conto posted three points on two goals and an assist, while
Morgan Knox added two goals for the Pride. Fellow seniors
Alexis Greene (one save) and
Audrey Byrd also saw action in their final game.
The Seawolves scored all the goals in the first half to take a commanding halftime advantage.
Conto would get the Pride on the board midway through the second half as Knox and Conto teamed up for four of the final six goals in the game.
Sophomore goalie
Maddie Fields made six saves in net and added a pair of ground balls for Hofstra.
Junior
Drew Shapiro and freshman
Alexa Mattera each tallied two draw controls and a ground ball for the Pride.
Stony Brook was led by Kylie Ohlmiller's 10 points on six goals and four assists.
