BB: Hofstra Falls To No. 5 St. John's On The Road

Queens, NY - Steven Foster went 3-3 with a double and a run for Hofstra, but fifth-ranked St. John's used a nine-run sixth inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into an 11-3 lead in a 14-3 win over the Pride Sunday afternoon at Kaiser Stadium.

The Red Storm moved to 21-2 on the season and swept the home and home series from the Pride, which dropped to 7-18.

St. John's led 2-0 after four innings before the Pride tallied three runs in the fifth. Sean Rausch and Chris Hardardt started the inning with back-to-back singles and each moved up a base on a passed ball. Rausch then scored on a wild pitch and Hardardt moved to third. After a walk to Foster put runners on the corners, Hardardt came in on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Nick Bottari then delivered a RBI single to score Foster for a 3-2 Pride lead.

But St. John's strung together six consecutive singles to start the sixth, taking a 6-3 lead. Jamie Galazin had a two-run single that gave the Red Storm the lead, 4-3. Michael Donadio, Anthony Brocato and Robbie Knightes also delivered two-run singles in the inning.

Michael LoPresti (5-0) picked up the win in relief for the Red Storm, allowing one hit in four shutout innings.

John Rooney (1-6) took the loss for Hofstra after allowing seven runs on six hits in one inning of relief.

Hofstra will return to action Tuesday at Monmouth.
