Bethpage, NY - Hofstra went into singles play leading 1-0, but Bucknell won the first four completed singles matches in a 4-3 victory Saturday night at Sportime in Bethpage.
Hofstra slipped to 3-5 on the season, while Bucknell upped its record to 2-9.
Hofstra claimed the doubles point, winning all three matches.
Nick Silvestri and
David Schrott won at No. 3 by retirement over Bryan Adams and Timber Erskine.
Jan Leithner and
Marcus Smith followed with a 6-2 win over Ben Gerber and Daniel Wright at No. 2.
Niko Vulinovich and
Coco Haener completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory over Max Palmer and Andrei Vitiuc at No. 1.
Max MacDonald evened the match for Bucknell with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Schrott at the fifth singles flight. Wright followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the top flight. Colin Sacco had a 6-3, 6-4 win over Silvestri at No. 6 before Adams clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Haener at the No. 4 spot.Â
Hofstra did get wins from Vulinovich (No. 2) and Leithner (No. 3), both in three sets.Â
The Pride return to action on February 26 at Fordham. Match time from Life Time Athletic in Harrison, New York, is set for 5 p.m.
