BB: No. 13 UL Lafayette Edges Hofstra At Tangi Classic

Hammond, LA - Hofstra got outstanding pitching performances from Teddy Cillis and Andrew Mundy, but 13th-ranked Louisiana Lafayette made a second-inning run stand up in a 1-0 victory over the Pride Sunday night at the Tangi Tourism Baseball Classic.

The Ragin' Cajuns evened their mark at 1-1 on the season, while the Pride dipped to 0-3.

UL Lafayette scored all they would need in the second inning as Tyler Stover led off with a single and came around on a one-out double from Alex Pinero.

Starter Nick Lee limited the Pride to two hits over six innings, walking two and striking out seven. Colton Lee followed with two scoreless innings before Dylan Moore pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save.

Cillis allowed one run on six hits in five innings of work. The junior left-hander also struck out six batters. Mundy threw three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

David Leiderman and Chris Hardardt had the Hofstra hits. Hardardt was also stellar behind the plate, throwing out all three attempted base stealers. He also cut down a runner at second on an
attempted sacrifice bunt in the eight as the Ragin' Cajuns looked to add an insurance run.

The Pride will be off for two days before returning to action Wednesday night at second ranked Louisiana State. Game time at Alex Box Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. (CST).
